Casa Hogar Corazón Valiente will bring Hope and Family Environment to Abandoned Children of San Migu
Casa Hogar Corazón Valiente is being founded on the concept of “family-based community integrated care" a concept that promotes care for abandoned children by giving them a home-like environment in the community.
Barbara Rueda and Rodney Dye, while working with various Casa Hogars in San Miguel de Allende over the past four years, have witnessed the importance of providing emotional stability and love to abandoned girls and boys. Inspired by their observations, Rueda and Dye decided to establish Casa Hogar Corazón Valiente. The plan is to provide a nurturing, family-like environment to abandoned boys and girls by building a community of small “casitas” with no more than six to eight children living in each one. The plans call for starting with a few casitas and eventually expanding to a community that will be able to house and care for 40 girls and 40 boys. There will live under one roof while being cared for by one consistent and supportive caregiver. The process of receiving zoning clearance as well as planning for a campus in the village of Los Lopez, just outside of San Miguel de Allende, is underway.
Extended family, neighbors, friends and members of religious and community organizations wishing to lend a hand will be able to assist in the support of the children. The goal of the organization is to equip, inspire and mobilize the community to build relationships with at-risk children in San Miguel de Allende. Relationships will grow through maintaining stable, personal connections with these families, providing counseling, and giving overall support and encouragement. With help from the community, Casa Hogar Corazon Valiente’s programs can become the “Voice of Action” ensuring that these children receive love, food, medical care, education, counseling and the hope of a sound, solid future.
